Aboyne Primary School is delightfully situated in a wooded campus alongside the Academy and Community Leisure Centre near the centre of the village of Aboyne. The new building was first occupied in 1979.
The school consists of twelve classrooms, a Gym Hall, 2 additional class rooms with specialist provision for children who have additional needs, two nursery classes, library, staff room and the usual offices. A new school dining hall was opened in June 2001 and was refurbished with a new floor in 2011.
It is fronted by a large tarmac playground, with an attractive planned play area to the left designed by the parents and children and partially funded by Scottish Natural Heritage. PTA funded the new playground equipment which was erected in May 2001. Various woodland and wildlife projects are ongoing in the surrounding land which lends itself wonderfully to our ECO school aims. Aboyne Primary proudly displays its second Green Flag awarded in November 2011. The outdoor learning area is being developed in partnership with pupils, parents and staff.
